It is ideal for high throughput blood banks/clinics, and has minimal downtime and service costs. It is safe, secure and user friendly.

Purpose:

• To prevent Transfusion-associated Graft-versus-host Disease (TA-GVHD).
• Treating cellular blood components with 25 Gy irradiation reliably inactivates donor lymphocytes through cross-linkage of DNA, and prevents TA-GVHD.
• TA-GVHD occurs when viable T-lymphocytes in transfused blood engraft , multiply and react against the tissues for the recipient.
• Filtration, washing, freezing, and prolonged storage provide an insufficient degree of leuko-reduction.
• Irradiation is recognized by regulatory organizations as the most efficient and most reliable method to inactivate lymphocytes
